An Easily Missable Starfield Detail Could Explain The Uncanny Valley Vibes
Starfield Shattered Space May Answer One Of The Game's Biggest Mysteries
10 Pieces Of Starfield Cut Content That Should Be Reintroduced To The Game
Summary
- Starfield's exploration and loot system may be lackluster, but the "Naturally Good Loot" mod promises more exciting rewards.
- The mod ensures Boss Chests in Starfield always drop desirable items, from Rare to Legendary gear based on player level.
- Bethesda could benefit from implementing similar loot improvements to enhance players' experiences and encourage exploration.
One of the most common complaints about Starfield is that the game's sense of exploration can be fairly disappointing so those who want to make the galaxy a little more exciting ought to check out this slick new mod. For all the hype surrounding the massive galaxy featured in Bethesda's sci-fi RPG, it should quickly become apparent to most players that there's not all that much to discover given that loot is relatively generic aside from a few unique pieces. Fortunately, an industrious player has managed to tweak the loot tables to become more interesting.
Posted to Nexus Mods by creator LazySkyrimPlayer, the "Naturally Good Loot - Better Exploration" mod tweaks Starfield's RNG to ensure that Boss Chests, which are discovered at the end of an outpost, will always spawn some kind of desirable item. From Level 1, these chests are guaranteed to drop at least a Rare Item, while Level 15 chests will contain an Epic weapon or armor and any player above Level 35 will find Legendary gear in their Boss chests. Better yet, each bracket has a small chance of offering loot that's from the next highest rarity, ensuring some particularly special drops.

Starfield is a massive game with hundreds of hours of content, but it struggles with animation and the uncanny valley effect with its characters.
Starfield Has A Major Exploration Problem
How Can Bethesda Fix This Issue?
As mentioned above, one of the biggest complaints leveled at Starfield is how the game handles its loot system and, by extension, the impact this has on exploration. While Bethesda made good on its promise to deliver a massive world, there's very little within it that's exciting. It's all well and good stumbling upon an outpost occupied by smugglers but when the contents they're guarding are the same as every other outpost, it becomes tedious to trudge through the same dungeon for minimal rewards.
Implementing a system similar to "Naturally Good Loot" may be the best solution for Bethesda as it would encourage players to seek out dungeons with the knowledge that in the end there'll be some kind of desirable equipment. Even if it doesn't line up with their build, a Legendary item can at least be sold off for a decent price to facilitate the gain of something else that could be useful. Additionally, a wider variety in the loot available to players could go a long way to keeping things fresh although whether this fits into the game's scope remains unknown.
The recent launch of Starfield's Creation Kit is no doubt a good first step towards creating a game that's more encompassing of the deep RPG experience players want. Having said that, the feature has also earned the ire of players who believe that Bethesda's pricing of custom content is outlandish for what it offers. One can only help that some kind of middle ground can be found and the community is able to amend the aspects that continue to drag down the game.
