If you asked me yesterday, I could've sworn I knew the answer, but the lack of caffeine isn't helping. I remember an option to start programs on boot, can't seem to fin it today

Do you want it to start at system boot, or just on the XFCE login?
If the second, you can copy its .desktop file from /usr/share/applications into the hidden .config/autostart directory in your home folder, and then go into the XFCE Session and Startup/Application Autostart settings to make sure it appears there and is set to autostart.
You can also manually create an autostart launcher in those settings, but that's a bit more trouble.
If you want to run a program at system boot, add it to /etc/rc.local. I use it to run iuvolt and set my MSI RGB keyboard colors at boot with an msi-keyboard script, otherwise they default to red.

Thanks, but wasn't there a built in app in MX to add items to autostart through a GUI?

I'd like Cairo -Dock to autostart. I've been having it that way for quiet some time. Now it doesn't start

I still can't find Cairo Dock in there to select it. I tried 'add' but I get name, folder...etc... no direct link to the app itself.

@Sparky: Google doesn't help?
I just typed Cairo dock Autostart and the first finds give me:
1) Since the 2.2.0 version of the dock, it's really easy to automatically launch the dock at startup. Simply launch the dock and do a right click on it / Cairo-Dock Menu / Launch the dock at startup. .
2) if that doesn't work for you this thread on Ubuntu
https://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=879027
(Guess you can do similarly in MX menu Jerry mentioned (
Settings > Session and Startup, Application Autostart tab)
Cannot check myself as have no computer around now, and don't use Cairo
